Important: New Ohio Catalytic Converter Requirements
Effective October 6, 2026, Ohio House Bill 210 establishes new requirements for the sale of used catalytic converters.
Catalytic converter payments can no longer be made in cash and must be made by check.
Sellers must also provide the required identification and proof of ownership of the catalytic converter. For a vehicle owner, acceptable proof may include the title or registration for the vehicle from which the converter was removed. A qualifying repair bill, invoice or receipt documenting the catalytic converter replacement may also be accepted when it includes the required vehicle information.
